One way to cut down on money spent at Christmas, birthdays, etc. is to only make it for the KIDS! My husband's 33-member extended family has a large Christmas party every year. We all bring a dish or two, and only children get gifts from the name drawing. This year we did it even cheaper... several folks contributed prizes from the dollar store and we played bingo. It was actually more fun

Don't feel so down. It's very common for people to spend money to please others and then get the post holiday blues. Next year the nest gift you can give them is framed baby pictures. Much cheaper! And little plaques with baby handprints and footprints.

You spent $2000 on "crap" for Christmas!? You'll never be out of debt. Once that $2000 is paid off there will be something else you NEED to buy. You need to change your attitude towards money, debt and needs vs wants before you are debt free.
