My Watch Addiction

As most of you know I'm 33 and extremely materialistic. I have to drive a luxury brand. I have to have the latest and greatest gadgets. I think I'm the only PF blogger out there who just loves stuff. I often wonder if there's something wrong with me but this is who I am. Even growing up as a kid I loved collecting stuff. I had an amazing coin collection. I also collected key chains, stamps, sports cards and other stuff I'm too ashamed to mention here.

Today I have another addiction I need to confess. I love collecting watches. I often wonder why I have to have so many watches:

Does a person really need to have these many watches? I don't think I have a problem I think I just enjoy the good things life has to offer. The only issue is money. I'm always on eBay watching items. I can get a $600 watch for $150 but that's money I really don't need to spend. The good thing is that most of these purchases don't end up on the credit card. I sell stuff on eBay and use that money to purchase items. If there's a great deal, I use Bill Me Later and I can pay for it with cash the next month.

There you have it, another one of my vices that probably keeps me in debt :( Is there such a thing as retail therapy for watch addictions?

Time Out

Remember me? Yes I'm still here. Things are good at home, the wife is ready to go back to teaching in the fall, she's been out since February and misses her work. The baby is doing great she's now sleeping from 9 PM until 7 AM! She's a very quiet sleeper so I'm always checking on her.

Debt continues to go up, we charged $1,600 this month to the Citi Forward card. The main reason is the income loss from the wife. I can't wait until I see her first paycheck in the fall. I've learned to live on one income but I still haven't mastered the spending. We both expect to get raises at work so hopefully our income goes up 6% in the fall which would go mainly to cover day care expenses for the little one.

I will be taking a quick blogging break for the next couple of weeks. I'm going to try and change the look of the blog and I also plan to add more information about our other debts (student loan, auto) and more information about our living expenses.

I'm also looking to mix up the blogroll a bit, if you want to be added or removed let me know and I'll try to accommodate the changes.

Why Do I Have a Debt Blog?

I've been asking myself recently why I have or maintain a debt blog. It has been almost 5 years since I started this blog and I'm pretty much in the same place as when I started. I know all the rules, I've read all the books, I would even say I'm a finance guru but I guess I refuse to make changes.

This morning I checked the Citi credit card account and noticed we have charged close to $3,000 dollars since June 5th. The total credit card debt is somewhere around $8,000. We blew through all the gift cards and summer is not even over yet- I'm sure there will be more spending until September.

I know, I need to start thinking about shutting down this blog LOL
