Are you kidding me? Did I really write a post about buying a new TV? Please remind me that WE'RE IN DEBT and this is a debt blog! This morning I opened up my Citi Forward card and almost went in to shock. The numbers don't lie, the current balance is:
That's right, close to $7,000 dollars on 1 credit card. I truly don't know what I was thinking when I wrote the post below. Part of me is like, buy the big ticket items before baby comes but I also need to think, pay down the credit card debt before the baby. I can't really do both at this time, so the logical and mature choice is to not buy a new television and to pay down the debt.
I will post the balance for Best Buy soon. I will probably use some of the tax return money to pay it off and then I will just have the Citi Forward card. Much easier to focus on just one card when trying to pay down debt.
Again, what was I thinking?

Nice!! Look how close you are to being debt free! Don't lose sight of that goal. You're so close! :-)
I had so many mean-spirited comments to make when I read your last post, but I kept my mouth shut. After readin today's post, I am so, so, so happy you came to your senses. It's not easy leaving those old habits behind.
If you call 7,000 close then yes, NICE lol

Lol I meant you're very close to reaching your goal! $7k is a LOT better than it was right?
Stay away from mega tv. Debt reduction is the goal now. TV later. :)
HS - I am so proud of you!!
I am so glad you changed your mind!! :)
Can you sell the best buy credits you were planning to use as well? That could be more $ to the debt.
Good call!
Save the Best Buy Gift cards to cover some of the expensive family gifts you always need to buy.
A smaller TV ($300) would suffice till you can AFFORD a large 70" one. We've been waiting to get a big flat screen TV for over a decade now. At first the prices were WAY too high (in the $6000 range), then we realized we had to focus on debt repayment first, and now we're trying to save for college expenses, but one day the TV will be at the top of our priority list. In the meantime, we watch our old 32" CRT tube TV, which is plenty adequate for our viewing needs.
Glad you took some time to think about it before buying. A massive TV like that should definitely be LOW on the priority list when you're trying to pay off debt and prepare for a baby. Good for you!
So your debt went up right? Sucks man but just plow away at it and you'll be alright.
Ok so remember how you asked me questions on my book review about cutting back? I answered you with a whole post.

Went up a little bit, not too much, it keeps going up because I send a ton of money to the other cards :( when I run out of money I put things on Citi.

That is your Best Buy without the tv added? What does one spend that much at Best Buy on? In all the years we have had a Best Buy near us we have not spent over $600 there, and that includes the $400 my boys spent their own cash on a Playstation 3 in Dec.
I thought the $7,000 was on Best Buy card, but still that is high. You make a good living you should have zero debt, fully funded emergency account, and cash each money to spend on stuff that you are putting on cards each month.
Here's hoping you can get all cards down to zero!!!
Great decision!
