Discover Card Update

I know the 2011 holidays were a total disaster when it came to debt and spending but somewhere in there I never lost focus on the Discover card. I got the latest statement this morning and I was proud to see that I made $560 dollars in payments for December:

I'm also happy with the lower interest charged to the account for this month. If you recall on this post back in August 2011, I was paying almost $50 dollars in interest. In a way that means I saved $30 dollars this month. I know it's money I will never see but at least that's $30 dollars less to pay back. I can't wait to get this balance down to ZERO and forget about this account. I like Discover and love their customer service but I hate carrying a balance and paying interest on it every month.

have you ever thought of seeing a therapist for some regular counselling? I am not trying to be critical but it seems to me you are a compulsive spender, and you need help to learn how to control your impulses. if you don't want to spend money on counselling ( which would be better than buying another thing you don't need) then maybe try debtors anonymous.

I wish you all the best with your debt reduction, I just think you someone objective who can cut through the crap you tell yourself and help you to learn new habits.
good luck

Can I just ask, as I've been reading your blog for a while and I don't recall, if you've ever posted your monthly budget before? In a very quick way, i.e. x went to mortgage, x went to utilities, x went to credit cards. Because I'm so totally confused as to how people who make over $100K per year can't pay off a $2500 credit card bill in one swoop. My husband and I make $80K/year with kids and we pay off our cc every month - usually $2500-3000.
Not judging, just really curious. It might help to see where your money goes?
