Homeowners Association Fees

It's that time of the year again. I think I write this post every year and complain about our HOA. This year is more special since our Homeowners Association people decided to increase the fee. You see that money below in our Accounts Payable? It is just sitting there waiting to be collected by our HOA:

That's correct, it is $920 dollars. I know this is something most people pay but since I have a blog I get to complain about it here. I don't really use most of the services they provide but just for fun I'll list them here to remind me where all this money goes:

Amenities
1: Gated Community with 24/7 Guard
2: Club House
3: Thre Children’s Parks
4: Contracted Police Patrol
5: Community Swimming Pools
6: Fitness Room
7: Walking Trails
8:  Basketball Courts
9: Tennis Courts
10: Volleyball Court

How much are your HOA'S? I know many people that pay way more so maybe I need to smile and not complain. ;)

You have some nice amenities!

Mine is $600 and im not quite sure what I'm getting that's worth that much. Walking trails, pool, 1 sad looking playground, and some "lakes". Oh and a community center that I have to pay to rent.

But just think of all the fun letters you get in the mail of every little thing you do wrong!! My favorite to date was they telling me to put a net on my basketball goal. And to do something about my grass dying when I wasn't allowed to water it. Makes sense to me! Lol

Tis the season to give. So give your HOA some money. :)

I don't have a HOA. But it seems that you have some nice ammenities, and once baby comes, I bet you will be using them more. Taking Jr. swimming and for walks!

Club house will be great if you want to have a party (Christening, birthday, etc).

You pay for it...might as well use it.

You have it easy. I don't have any amenities (just one condo building to maintain) and I pay $3,220 per year.

WOW! $3220 But that would be monthly correct?

No HOA in our community. I live in a relatively nice area (we have the lowest value house in the neighborhood!) & many community events are funded entirely through donations & volunteers. Those that are able to give, do, and it works well.

I don't have HOA or any of the sort, but my older brother does. He pays something ridiculous, like $1,200/year. There's no pool. No gym. No community center. There are some dead and dying trees and sidewalks that they've been working on for 5 years but havent finished. Same for the 'second exit' road. The letters he gets are amusing, though. Like mandating him to water the grass and the trees. Then 4 months later, complaining that this one spot on the back of the house is too tall. Or to remove the motorcycle from the parking spot because it had been sitting there for the whole fall/winter season (they get 2 parking spots per house and they were using 1 for the bike and 1 for their car). There's just no pleasing some people.
