Some Good News

Well today I have some good news. My wife got a new teaching position at a brand new elementary school in the district. She will be teaching Kindergarten all day in her new role. The school still under construction but everything will be brand new, the carpet, the desks, the walls, she is thrilled! She's currently teaching pre-K and she's split between two schools. We get mileage reimbursement checks every month which average about $77 but we are spending way more on gas and adding miles to the car. The new school is 3.4 miles away and she won't be traveling between two locations. I'm hoping this will save us some money and have less stress on her commute.

Wife- you don't know about this blog but I want to congratulate you! I love you!

In other news, I am replacing our AC unit this coming Friday. We have a leak in the coil and I think I should fix this now instead of paying more every month for AC. The good news is that it will only cost $1,500. I plan to charge this on my new Citi Thank You card since they told me I would get 4 points for every dollar spent. The plan is to pay it off next month and get a $50 dollar gift card!

My Job, I got a decent review but my manager said I need to do more. He said I need to be doing his job and try to take over his job- this is how it is in consulting, you are supposed to do the job of the person above you so you can get promoted, if you don't get promoted, it's up or out. They want everyone to manage others and those who can't make it will leave the firm. I am not the manager type but I will try to do more of his job. My focus right now is to get a raise in September and see where it goes from there.

Life is good right now, I can't complain. I am thankful for what we have, thankful for our jobs and I'm optimistic about the future. I see good things ahead and I have a good feeling about our finances, hopefully that means less debt in the future.

Could it be because of some of the comments made by your readers that she might take offense of? Maybe if she read them, she might get a clue and work on getting you out of debt with you instead of spending friveously with you.

That is many a teacher's dream...to be the first teacher in a classroom in a brand new building.

I don't think she would take offense, the blog has become more of an outlet for my frustrations :) None really knows I have it, it's nice to come here and openly talk about finances and debt.

Yah for you and your wife!

Just one quick thing I've noticed recently about how you talk about debt: you always say stuff like "hopefully we'll get out of debt," or "hopefully we'll pay down the debt."

You don't have to hope! You can do it if you make a firm commitment! You guys make really good money; I make less than half of what you guys do and live in a much higher cost of living area (DC metro area). If I can do it, you can do it.

Of course, you don't HAVE to do it; plenty of people float along with their debt for their entire lives. I'm just saying that it's not a matter of hope; if you want to pay off your debt it's totally, TOTALLY possible.

Congrats. My husband doesn't read my blog either. I guess I just feel like it's my place to vent.

I have the same comment as @TeacHer. Getting out of debt is not about "hopefully". It's about doing it. Buying iPhones and putting expensive repairs on your credit card because you keep spending your emergency fund on designer purses is not going to get you there.

I'd say it's time for you to man up and be honest. If you want to get out of debt, then do something about it. Otherwise make this blog about the cool stuff you buy and the crazy things you do as a couple and quit talking about "hopefully" getting out of debt.

That is good news. Glad the wife landed another position within the district.

I agree with @TeacHer. As you know I struggled yes even made some bad decisions along the way, but I made it by keeping my eye on the goal.
