I know I need to pay down my debt but I have to have this, I actually 'need' this. I can't think of a good reason at this moment but I must have one. They come out next week and I don't have the cash so if you see my credit card balance go up you know why.

Can't up perhaps, find a used one year old iPad on Kijiji for a fraction of the cost - say $300?
I know the old version isn't as up and coming as the new one, but in an year's time when iPad 3 comes out, you'll probably want one of them too.

Not to guilt you, but my hot water heater is now done, that is a need.
Plus I have barely any food, another need.
Things are really tight. My bills are paid for Feb. I have no debt (except mortgage), and am so blessed.
But seriously I have not been able to buy food (we have been eating from pantry which is now almost completely depleted, I kid you not) in 2 weeks or take a hot shower in days. Cold showers are fun.
It is your life and your money, you will decide if you get this phone, but don't even try to justify it as a need. Be honest with yourself!!!

I have the first gen iPad, and I love it (I'm actually typing this from it right now). I bought it in August -- that's right, FOUR MONTHS after its release in Canada. Why? Because I paid cash, and I didn't have the money for it until that time.
Rushing out to buy this when you don't have the money is stupid. Don't put it on your credit card. Why can't you just wait until you have the cash? You're like a child that has to have instant gratification. Grow up! You have debt and a serious spending problem, and your blog is mostly a showcase of bad habits rather than an effort to change your spending behavior.
There WILL be an iPad 3. And 4. And 9. And they will all be awesome, but you shopuldnt get them all. Pace yourself dude.

HS - I have been lurking about and I have to say, reading your blog infuriates me. Debt is a dumb way to live, but for some reason, you have not gotten the message about it. You make a decent income, but you're trying to keep up with the Jones and it is going to backfire on you. Please - wake up and smell the coffee and get yourself on a budget and out of debt. I know you can do this.
I've been lusting over this too... I have an Ipod Touch and love it to bits, so I figure an Ipad is the same thing, just bigger and cooler. ;) LOL!! So far i'm resisting..
I think these things are awesome, but to me they are big iPhone you can't talk on. or can you talk on these? I try not to pay attention to the hype around it...

I have to agree w/ Rhitter, your blog angers me . I do not think you care about getting out of debt , I think you are proud of the careless and mindless spending you do . You are trying to keep up with the Jone's and it will back fire on you and when it does, you think your in debt NOW , you think you "Want" things now ! Buddy you do not have a CLUE !
