I went with the Michelin LTX M/S2, pictured above. This is probably the best tire in the market for SUV's, they are rated 70,000 miles and the way the wife drives I'm hoping we get 80,000 miles out of them. The bad part is the price. Each tire is close to $200 so I walked out of there with a $1,100 purchase, at least that includes free replacement warranty. I put this amount on my Citi credit card but rest assured, the money came out of savings the next day and I made the payment back to Citi this morning.
$1,100 may seem like a lot for new tires but we are hoping this is the last set we ever have to buy for this vehicle.
What do you think? Is $1,100 too much for tires?

I wasn't sure if you were going to check back on my blog, so I'm leaving a response on yours! You know it's always rude not to respond to questions directly asked. First, thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm glad that you like it.
Yes, I live in North Houston. I have admin experience, HR coordinator, heavy data entry, payroll, collections, MS Office products, yada yada yada. I do not have a BS in anything. The market just stinks and it's been really hard.
Ok, enough blabbering. Thanks again! I'm going to start reading your blog. It looks interesting!
Hi FM, Welcome

Not really too much if it is a newer SUV with the computer chip in it. We spent almost $1,400 for our tires, but these tell me the pressure and when to rotate them.
It seems to me tires are just costing that much now. If it is 2005 or newer, expect it.
You are right, even paid for cars cost money - especially if you had a four year note (or longer). If it is not tires, it is the brakes or battery or alternator or starter or air compressor, etc, etc.
I spent about $400 for new tires in Nov.09. I have a 1998 Chevy Lumina. (It was gifted to me in May 08.)
I think when buying a car you have to also see how much tires and maintanance are as well.
If that is what tires for that car cost, you have no choice but to buy them. Plus yu want to buy good tires so that they will last as long as possible.
I spent $650 on mine and people told me I'd paid a lot but man, yours are almost double! I have a compact SUV and that brought my cost up to about $150 per tire and they did an alignment. Have you priced them online? That was a good gauge for me personally and was why I was ok playing what I did. I would've liked to score a sale and pay less but they needed desperate changing.
Not at all. Remember there there only 4 parts of your vehicle that keep it in contact with the road. Never underestimate the importance and value of your tires. Especially if you live in an all weather climate.
