Happy New Year! This is my first post for 2011. 2010 was a good year but it was very expensive. We added close to $8,000 in credit card debt. I simply can't control credit card spending, I know I've had a few posts on that subject and ideas to control it but I'm just not there yet. We are spending way more than we earn. Hopefully 2011 will be the year of less debt and more income. I'm hoping to get a raise in September 2011 or a new job as soon as possible.
New Year Resolutions:
Me: Continue Body-For-Life program. We started week 9 and my weight is down to 192.2 lbs according to the scale this morning (216 on Nov 8). We have 3 weeks to complete our 12 week session. We are hoping to start a new session in 3 weeks and continue our transformation. I will continue posting my progress and hopefully share my new abs with everyone.
Money: Read Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover again! I love this book and my goal is to live by it. I know I criticize Dave a lot but I think I can do this. I'm going to pick up a copy on Ebay and read it all over again! I need money inspiration for 2011 and better ideas to help pay down my debt.
Debt: Pay off all credit card debt and stop using credit cards. I'm hoping to accomplish this by using our tax return money and making $1000 dollar payments to debt every month. I don't carry any credit cards with me and I plan to use cash from ATM every week.
No other resolutions for this year! keeping it simple and hopefully my readers can keep me accountable :)
What are your new year's resolutions?

Have you taken a look at what you're spending your money on? If you're spending more than you're making this is a starting point.
Another key point is learning to distinguish between a "need" and a "want."
Wishing you success in getting your credit card debt paid off in 2011!
Continue on Baby Step 2 of my Total Money Makeover. I have been chipping away at my $105K debt for 3.5 years. I have $48K to go.
I hope that you are able to make progress with Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover.
I think that Dave Ramsey is good regarding debt reduction but I think that he misses the boat in regard to building wealth.
Way to go on the weight loss!
I'm listening to Dave's podcasts while on the treadmill each night... LOVE IT!
Good luck in 2011!
Hi HS. Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. I wanted to clarify a couple things about my $50 grocery budget for January through March...
Don't worry. I eat very healthy. Lots of veggies and the like. I do eat a lot of pasta but not Ramen and I have never had Spam. I don't eat a lot of meat as a rule, but will usually have some type of protein with my meals. I love seafood so I eat that quite often.
By the way, I shop at Aldi and that has cut my grocery budget down nearly in half. And I have a nice stockpile plus things I canned in the Fall (Spaghetti sauce, apple sauce, tomatoes, etc.) so that helps with the budget, too.
found you via your comment on Budget Confidential's blog :)
We've been following DR's system for over a year now, and have almost all my credit card debt paid off. There's around $2,000 left, and then once that's paid off in the next couple months, we'll be DONE with nasty credit cards forever!
2011 goals: after paying off remainder credit card debt, either hit retirement hard, or start paying extra on student loan. We're also transitioning to a healthier lifestyle, and I'll be learning how to feed a family of five an organic/whole foods diet on our $70 a week grocery budget. So far I've been able to do quite a bit, and I'm excited to see how this progresses in 2011 :)

Hi there saw you had dropped by my blog, so I,m returning the compliment.
I am working on getting my debts paid down this year so that is my Resolution, after that it will be savings towards my Retirement.
Well done on the weight loss front, wish I had your motivation.
Those look like good, measurable goals! Congrats on the weight loss and I do hope that you're able to avoid using the credit cards/pay them off this year. Good luck!
