What’s in Your Wallet

Fun post for today since I don't have a whole going on at work. I wanted to show my readers what's in my wallet:

As you can see I carry a lot of plastic, I took the picture this morning. If you start from left to right, here's what's in my wallet:

Arnold Palmer Golf Discount Card
American Express Corporate
Discover Card
Citi Premier Pass
Bank Of America Check Card
Texas Driver's License
Houston Metro Q Card (bus)
Best Buy Reward Zone
Kroger Card
$25 Beth Bath and Beyond gift card
Sam's Club membership card
Randall's card
CVS Card

I also carry my AllState auto insurance card with me but I forgot to pull it out. As you can see I carry no cash or anything else. I need to reduce the amount of stuff I carry, I would hate to lose the wallet and have to worry about all this stuff.

Auto Loan Almost Paid Off

The wife's car is almost paid off! Below is a picture of her car. We bought the car brand new in January 2006 for $30,200. I negotiated this price down from $34,550. The final price included taxes, title and license. We put down $3,500 and negotiated a 60 month loan at 2.9% APR. The monthly payment amount is $448.

Most of my readers know I don't really follow any debt advice, for example Dave Ramsey says never buy a new car but this was the best purchase we've ever made. The car has 50,000 miles and it is worth $17,000! somehow our auto debt turned into an asset. We put an average of 10,000 miles per year so our plan is to keep the car for another 5 years and sell for a small profit when the car has 100,000 miles.

After we get rid of this debt, we plan to put the $448 payment towards my auto debt. I have an additiction to Japanese luxury so I still owe a bit more, I don't want to name the brand or model but I will say I love my 300 HP engine :)

Did Not Get The Job

I had a call Friday morning from the recruiter in New York telling me I did not get the job I interview for last week. I'm glad she called, I hate it when you never hear anything after an interview. I'm OK not getting this job. I realize 100,000 is a lot of money to pay a person, they are looking for top talent. I have most of the skills but I'm not a sales person. Perhaps now is the time to to focus more on what I really want to do and less on how much I can make. Money does not always bring happiness so in a way I'm thankful I did not get this job.

Job Interview

I had an interview for the job I posted about a few weeks ago. Monday night the recruiter called me and said they were ready to talk to me. I had the interview the next day over the phone. I admit it was not my best interview but I'm hoping I make it to the next step which is another interview in person.

I really want this job, and making $100,000 would be nice!

WISH ME LUCK!
