2009 Tax Return

Our taxes are done! I finally got around getting all our forms, W2's, 1099's and receipts together and filed last night. I used TaxAct which is free but I had to pay $9.95 to add all my stock transactions. I'm happy with TaxAct, I been using TaxAct.com since 2002 when I did my first Efile, we've never had any issues or problems with them.

Our tax refund this year is $2250! I wasn't expecting to get this much since Obama gave us a payroll credit back in April 2009. I can't complain, more money is always a good thing. $250 of that is from the sale of company stock which went down right before I sold it. I also increased contributions to my 401k so that probably also helped with our return.

The money will be in my checking account in 7 days. The wife wants $1000 to book a vacation and the other $1000 will probably go to Citi. The remaining $250 will go towards home repairs, I need to get our sprinkler system fixed.

How much was your refund this year?

We owe every year, no matter what based on the bonus structure with salary. We are used to it at this point, so it is not a huge deal. The idea refund or owe would be $0!

Hi Jennifer!

Bonuses are tricky since you never know how much you get. What I hate the most is that they are taxed way higher than regular income! I got a small 1000 project bonus but after taxes it was only 600!

We were fortunate to get $1K back this year which we're using to purchase some goodies rather than send to debt. Got to have a break from paying everything off every once and a while :)

I got about $12,000 (I bought my first house last year.)
$1,200 tithe
$200 offering to my sponser child's family
$3,000 roof repair
$1,500 owed mom
$1,500 owed dad
$400 annual life insurance payment
$1,200 home insurance for year
$3,000 car replacement/repair fund (my car is a 1998, so it is 12 years old. I will drive it until it falls apart, but have to assume that may be sooner or later.)

I now have no debt but my mortgage. I also have enough money to not have to go back to work full time until Sept. (I am a single, homeschooling mom of two, that is alot of work as is.)

This is all because of God!!!

I am glad you got a refund as well!
