American Express Corporate Card

If you carry any type of America Express cards I feel sorry for you. This is a company I used to have a lot of respect for but lately I’m having many doubts. I dumped my Amex Blue card a few months back since they cut back my credit line down to $500. I refuse to do business with any company that lowered my credit line based on where I shop when my credit score is over 700 and never missed any payments or had any negative fees.

My employer forces me to carry an American Express Gold Corporate Card for all my business expenses and reimbursements. Recently Amex decided to add spending limit to the card, so again they cut me back down to $500 dollars. This week I had to book airfare to New York and Hotel expenses. The current balance is over $500 so this whole week the card has been declined 3 times! So thanks to their brainless policies I can’t use my card.

We’ve never had any kind of spending limits at our company so I’m sure this Amex trying to further reduce risks and cut credit lines. Maybe Amex needs to revisit their no pre-set spending limit policies.

I have an astronomical $11,000 credit limit on mine- ridiculous. That's about $10,200 less than I realistically use every month. Stupid.

Don't leave home without it :)

I've got an AmEX with a $2500 limit that I have never used. Not sure how you got one with a $500 limit. Don't plan to use the card anyway, I only got it to 'offset' my available credit back when I cared about my credit score. Guess the company better take care of your costs up front. Remember reading about the guy who became responsible to pay for 1,000 computers on his company credit card and then the company went bankrupt? That could be you holding the bill next.

I hear you. I applied for a Gold AMEX Card and was approved in April 2009. I have an excellent credit score (730+). While on travel abroad, AMEX cancelled the card without giving me any notice in May 2009. I was stuck on travel with no way to pay for expenses. Reason for the cancellation - too much debt. I have had a AMEX Corporate Card for the past 10 years and never had a late payment since CY 2000. That does not matter to AMEX. I wrote a formal letter to the CEO of AMEX, no reply. If you try to send an automated e-mail on their web site to customer service, that capability has been down and non operational for over 4 weeks. AMEX is sticking it to the consumer and is losing the trust and confidence of consumers who do manage and pay their bills on time. Their policies will hurt them in the long run. So much for loyalty to AMEX. ANGRY IN DEED!!!!!!!

OK I Called Amex and this is only a retail limit, it will not impact hotels, restaurants or airline purchases.
