Discover Balance

Our Discover Card balance is 0! We made the final payment on Tuesday and this morning we are done with this card. I will not use this credit card ever again. I can’t believe we put over $3,000 on it this summer, unexpected stuff happens but now we can move on.

I should be celebrating but I feel like we have not made any real progress in the past few months with our credit card debt. Our goal in the next three months is to reduce Best Buy and get rid of CITI Professional.

I will post all the updated balances once I get the statements next week.

How can you say you haven't made any progress? Sure you never included the Discover card in your paying off debt, but now that this account is gone forever, don't look back. I see this as a huge step forward because now you can accelerate paying off your other accounts that much faster. I'd advise putting more into your EF in case you have extra expenses in a particular month. While it slows down debt reduction, it doesn't increase the debt. You do what works best for you though. I can't wait for the Citi card to become the next victim and would like mine to go away sooner than later.

Congratulations on your progress. We think a lot of people can appreciate your inspiring story. And although we're disappointed to lose a cardmember, we're always happy to see people reach their financial goals.

What a great feeling for you to see that $0 balance! I agree with Jim, take this as an opportunity to beef up your EF.
