After reading the fine print above I noticed that it is only up to $400 dollars in purchases, so that only comes out to $20 in rewards. If you must buy gas like most of us do, this might be a nice way to get a 5% discount, but only 20 back?!? Oh well, you can always turn that 20 in to 25 by converting it to a gift card. Since we have Discover I will probably put any gas and hotel purchases on there this month. Don’t worry, the balance before August 1st will be $0.00.

Maybe it's just me, but you still have use the credit card to take advantage of the offer. I don't know if it's worth it to me to run up $400 on a credit card to get $20 back.
I guess it would only be worth it if you could pay the card off while your purchases were still within the grace period. I have an AMEX card that I use for gas rebates. I have been successful in paying it off each month so I have not lost any money in interest.
for $20....... hmmm i cant understand what you wanna prove.
Still a better percentage than the difference between paying cash or credit. That usually comes out to less than 2%. I get that normally as cashback on gas with my credit card.
$400 is about 10 trips to the pump.
The key point to any cashbask program is being able to pay off your balance every month. Otherwise, you are only chipping away at your annual percentage points. 5% of $400 is just a little bit bigger chip for a few months.
Well written article.
Interesting blog. It's gives me a good insight.
