April 2008 CITI Balance

The balance on our CITI Premier Pass card is now at $7,377.78. We made a payment for $1800 this month, we managed to find some extra money around the house and decided to apply it to this balance. I should be adding money to the emergency fund but I much rather see this balance go down. I truly hate paying interest.

The goal for May is to put the balance in the 6K range, hopefully we can be under $5,000 before July. I wish all this money was going to a mutual fund instead of CITI. I think we learned our lesson, never be in this much credit card debt again...

What were we thinking in the past??

Have you ever gone back and looked at old statements? I find it amazing to see the old charges and the amounts, and probably at the time wasn't thinking at all about the credit card bill. You're making some huge progress on that Citi card though, way to go and keep it up!

Jim,

I remember going over the credit limit on this card, at the time it was 15,000. It has a no pre set spending limit so you can go over the credit line and not get charged a fee. You just have to pay anything over on the next statement. It's crazy to think that we used to have over 15k of debt in this card alone.

I remember the finance charges used to be $180!!!

I can purchase a new car on this credit card alone! that's crazy...
